Font file used by Symbian OS devices, such as Nokia Series 60 smartphones; saves font characters in a bitmap format; can be transferred from a PC to the phone via Bluetooth or USB.

GDR font files must be saved in the SystemFonts directory on the Symbian device in order to function correctly; when a new font is installed, the device must be restarted to allow the Font and Bitmap server processes to recognize the font.

Symbian OS programs, such as FileMan and FontRemover, can also be used to install or remove GDR files on the Symbian device..gdr
